Remembering Yossie A’H – By: Rabbi Eliyahu Schneider

R’ Yossie Yurowitz, z”l, was a wonderful person and friend.  I have a special gratitude to Yossie for introducing me to learning the Ohr HaChayim HaKodosh.  He encouraged me to start a Thursday night shiur in Ohr HaChayim in K’hal Zichron Mordechai which lasted  about two years and that R’ Yossie attended basically every week.  This past winter I gave  Friday night shiurim in Ohr HaChayim at the Aguda, and on Shabbos morning.  There is a weekly Ohr HaChayim shiur where I presently daven at K’hal Tosfos Yom Tov.   We still use the actual seforim that R’ Yossie brought to the shiur.  R’ Yossi has an incredible chelek in all these shiurim!

I would like to publicize the following Ohr HaChayim in memory of R’ Yossie, z”l.

As we know, the Korban Olah had to be entirely burnt, including the horns.  If so, how come the horn of the ram that Avraham Avinu brought by the Akeida was saved for the shofar of Matan Torah and for Moshiach wasn’t burnt?  After all, Chazal teach us that Avraham Avinu fulfilled the whole Torah!

The Ohr HaChayim HaKodosh answers.  Avraham Avinu kept the entire Torah on a voluntary basis.  When it came to the shofar of the ram of the Akeida, since this would be a tool that would be used for Matan Torah and Moshiach, it’s a tool needed for Klal Yisroel.

Yossi Yurowitz, z”l, was a Yid who loved Klal Yisroel and would do whatever he could to ensure the future of Klal Yisroel.  Yossi would get particularly excited when the Ohr HaChayim would discuss Moshiach.  As we are in the chodesh of the Geulah,  may Moshiach come speedily, amen.
